CME & Other Credit Policies
Selected programs sponsored by The Center for Faculty Development & Diversity are approved for continuing medical education (CME) credits through Partners HealthCare System (PHS).
Partners HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. As an accredited CME provider, Partners can designate AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM for activities that meet ACCME requirements for Partners affiliated institutions.
Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Certain CFDD activities may also be approved for other types of professional certification credits, including Responsible Conduct of Research and Risk Management. See additional information below.
The Center for Faculty Development & Diversity Professional Development programs may be approved for continuing medical education (CME) credits through the Partners Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). If a program is approved for CME credits, this information will be listed as part of the program announcement
CME Information: Earning and Reporting Credit
To receive a CME certificate for an accredited CFDD Seminar Series, physicians must register at the Partners CPD website, sign-in at the event site registration table and complete an evaluation.* Physicians who attend the program in full will receive an email at the end of the program with a link to an online evaluation and option to download a CME certificate or Certificate of Participation.
The CFDD reports all CME credits earned through attendance at CFDD series and programs to the Partners HealthCare Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The CFDD no longer enters CME credits into the BICS system.
If you have any questions, please contact the CFDD.
IMPORTANT: Physicians must still maintain personal records of all CME programs attended for licensure or in case of an audit.
Risk Management Credits
Selected programs sponsored by the CFDD may be eligible for Risk Management (RM) study required for licensing in Massachusetts. The CFDD will notify participants when this occurs. RM credits earned will be indicated on the participant’s annual CME certificate from Partners HealthCare System. Participants should make sure to document this in their personal CME records, as well.
Physician CME requirements for licensing in Massachusetts can be found in the Department of Health and Human Services CME Booklet or on the licensing website.
Responsible Conduct of Research Credits
The Office for Research Careers offers several programs that count toward RCR credits. Responsible conduct of research (RCR) training is required of students, trainees, and investigators with career development awards who are supported by National Institutes of Health (NIH) funds. The National Science Foundation (NSF) also requires RCR training of undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with any NSF support. Please visit our RCR website for more information on how to obtain and report these credits.
Other Types of Continuing Education Credit
All non-physicians who sign-in at the event site registration table and complete an event evaluation will receive an email from Partners HealthCare Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with the number of credits earned during the past academic year and instructions on how to receive a Certificate of Participation. Please contact your field’s licensing board to confirm acceptance of credit.
* Note: Per the AMA guidelines, certificates/transcripts may only be provided to participants who are listed on the attendance sheets for each event.
