The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Faculty Career Development Award is a part of the Eleanor and Miles Shore 50th Anniversary for Scholars in Medicine, intended to provide transitional funding to enhance productivity and growth during the early critical years of an academic career. With the support of the BWH Presidents Office, Brigham Research Institute, and CFDD, the Award provides $30,000, plus 15% overhead (total of $34,500) to support activities that contribute to the individual’s academic career development. Two awards are being offered in 2017.

BWH seeks to use these awards to increase the diversity of the faculty, with an emphasis on assisting women faculty, faculty who belong to a racial/ethnic population underrepresented in medicine and science (URM*), or faculty who have family responsibilities such as being the primary caregiver for children and/or parents. Those eligible must have an MD, PhD or equivalent advanced degree, with appointment at level of Instructor or Assistant Professor at HMS at the time of application, and an established interest in an academic career.

Applications are now closed for the 2017 award cycle.
