The Brigham and Women’s Health Care Center for Faculty Development & Diversity Pillar Awards will be awarded annually to BWH faculty in recognition of achievement in one, or more, of the four pillars of academic life: clinical care, research, education and community service.
A call for nominations is announced at beginning of each calendar year. Most categories require a letter of support from the nominee’s department chair, and up to 5 additional letters can be submitted to enhance the nomination. Award recipients are recognized on the CFDD Pillar Awards plaque located next to the BWH Gift Shop. They are also honored at the annual New Faculty Welcome Lunch & Awards Ceremony.
The 2016 nomination period was January 11 – March 7. Awards will be announced in May 2016. Nominations will open again in March 2017.
Recognizing the importance of teamwork in all facets of academic medicine, nominations for individuals and teams will be accepted for the 2016 Pillar Awards. While team nomination for particular awards (e.g. Clinical Teacher) are unlikely nominators should identify the role and impact of all individuals on the team in making team nominations.
