Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs
Massachusetts has many elder care resources for senior residents who need public benefits, housing, health care, long-term care, or other types of assistance. A network of elder agencies offers support services to help Massachusetts elders remain independent in their homes. Protective services help Massachusetts elders who are being abused or neglected.
Massachusetts Senior Care Association
The Massachusetts Senior Care Association represents a diverse set of organizations that deliver a broad spectrum of services to meet the needs of older adults and people with disabilities. Members include more than 500 nursing and rehabilitation facilities, assisted living residences, residential care facilities and continuing care retirement communities.
Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association provides support and information on Alzheimer’s disease with a 24-hour Helpline. If you or a family member or friend has Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, we can help you. We also help health care professionals link to treatment information and options for care.
BIDMC DriveWise Program
Recognized as a national model, the DriveWise program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center offers an objective evaluation of driving safety for drivers of all ages who have neurological, psychological, and/or physical impairments that might impair driving safety. The program integrates a standardized on-the-road test with counseling and occupational therapy assessments.
The SHINE program provides free, unbiased and up-to-date health insurance information, counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers. The SHINE counselors help older persons (and younger disabled Medicare beneficiaries) understand their Medicare benefits and other health insurance options.
